Mesquite with Wenge Border

In exploring how to make tables without the conventional four legs, I came up with this example using a central swirled pillar that is quite stout and thoroughly stable. The sculpted pillar is made from laminated mesquite. The top features a bookmatched pair of mesquite boards (ones that are consecutively cut from the same tree then placed together like facing book pages) with a border of nearly solid black African wenge. Dimensions are approximately 28 inches deep, 42 inches wide and 29 inches high.
