The top of this 2-inch thick mesquite table had to be built to fit within a pear-shaped dining space in the client's home.
The base is made of two mesquite spirals set on large base blocks of natural edge mesquite. The spirals are detactable and the piece requires on-site assembly.
The top - 84-inches long and 46-inches at its maximum width - is so heavy that I could not move it by myself - so I enlisted the help of my nephew's son, also named Ben McNitt, during his summer break from high school. The table also outmatches my photo background, so the picture of it here was taken at the shop entrance just before delivery.
The client wanted the table to make unique, dramatic statement. I think we achieved that with this piece.
